Alyssa Fox is Director of Information Development and Program Management at Micro Focus, an enterprise software company in Houston, Texas. She has been involved in technical communication for over 15 years.
Alyssa has worked as an individual contributor, lead, and manager to build cohesive teams that deliver products relevant to users. Her interests and skills include technical communication, user experience, process improvement, project management, and agile development practices.
Alyssa is a senior member of STC and has served the society in various roles at various levels. She was on the Summit program committee for multiple years, and was the 2012 STC Summit Program Chair. Alyssa also served as a member of the Intercom advisory panel from 2010-2012. She has served at the community level in assorted positions for STC Houston including President and Treasurer, and has run multiple committees in areas such as Competitions, Programs, and Hospitality.
Alyssa frequently presents at conferences around the world including several STC Summits, LavaCon, tcworld, WritersUA, PMI Houston, and STC chapter meetings. She has won awards in the local STC competition, and received a Distinguished Chapter Service Award in 2010.
Additionally, she writes articles for the STC Intercom and tcworld magazines, and guest-edited the November/December 2014 issue of Intercom about agile and technical communication. She is currently writing a series of articles about management and tech comm for the Techwhirl website, and previously wrote a series of articles about agile and tech comm on that site.
Alyssa lives in the Houston, Texas area with her husband, two sons, and three dogs. She’s a proud Texas Aggie who enjoys traveling (most of the time), reading (all of the time), golf (for which she never has time), and eating out (for which she’ll make time).
